CHNR DUES INCREASE
Treasurer Alan Cobb reminded all that there will be an annual dues increase beginning for Rotary year 2024-25—something the CHNR Board has wrestled with but needs in order to maintain a balanced budget, especially harder with shifts in membership dynamics and increased costs.
Dues for all members (July 24-June25) will increase $100 a year ($25 a quarter) for Active, Flex  and Rule of 85 members. There will be an additional $100/year ($25 a quarter) assessed only the Flex and Rule of 85 members: to help cover the cost of meeting, as well as the technology used in presentations and for Zoom accessibility. Any questions or concerns, contact Treas. Alan Cobb (before June 30): alan.bandcins@clubrunner.email

OKTOBERFEST
The premier fundraiser for the Carlsbad Hi-Noon and Carlsbad Rotary clubs continues to seek sponsors for this event, that will be held Sat., Oct. 5, again at the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields. Net proceeds from this fundraiser enable the two clubs to support Carlsbad programs, projects, schools and non-profits, as well as Rotary’s programs worldwide.  To make a donation, visit the webpage: rotaryoktoberfest.org. There is a donations button at the top of the home page. Non-Rotary folks can click on Sponsorship and scroll down to the bottom to see a listing of how we use these funds.

Sundquest’s Escondido Rotary Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, with a centennial celebration Oct. 20 at the California Center for the Performing Arts in Escondido. He invited all to celebrate, (info: escondidorotary.org) noting there is some lineage between his club and ours. He said our club was jointly sponsored, in 1980, by Carlsbad Rotary and El Camino Rotary, and Carlsbad Rotary had been sponsored by Vista Rotary—which was sponsored by his Escondido Rotary, creating a Kevin Bacon six-steps type of connection—in less than six!

Nancy Starling, talking about her year as president of the Encinitas-La Costa Rotary (2003-03).
