Carlsbad Fire Department Updates

Chief Ordille was appointed to the City of Carlsbad Fire Department on April 16, 2001, at the age of 22. He has served the citizens of Carlsbad for the past 22 years, and previously served as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Escondido Fire Department. Chief Ordille held the ranks of Paramedic/Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in charge of operations in September of 2018.
Chief Ordille attended Escondido High School prior to completing his bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach in Occupational Studies. He also holds a master’s degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security from Arizona State University. Chief Ordille is the recipient of six Meritorious Service Awards for his efforts in the California wildfires, Urban Search and Rescue and Public Health emergencies in 2003, 2007, 2014 and 2017, 2020 and 2023.
Chief Ordille was previously assigned as the Battalion Chief overseeing the department’s lifeguard program and water rescue resources. He also served as the department’s fleet manager and hiring officer. Chief Ordille holds a Paramedic certification, Executive Chief Officer certification, Chief Fire Officer certification, Company Officer certification, and is a state certified instructor in various rescue and command disciplines. Chief Ordille is also a member of the San Diego County Fire Type 3 Incident Management Team where he has deployed in various operational capacities.
During his time away from work, Chief Ordille enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and engaging in many outdoor activities including surfing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding. Chief Ordille is very proud of his profession and shares his passion for the fire service with his brother who is a Firefighter/Paramedic and father who is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic.
